Methodology

East Side Social LLC follows the principles of applied behavior analysis to teach social skills to individuals of all abilities.

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a science in which the principles of behavior analysis are applied systematically to improve socially significant behavior. ABA uses evidence based interventions to teach a full range of behavior including, but not limited to, social, academic and communication skills to individuals of all ages and abilities. Decades of research support the use of ABA as an effective methodology for teaching, generalizing and maintaining new skills.

The literature on social skills development indicates the effectiveness of modeling, role playing and positive reinforcement in establishing a number of skill sets that we address at East Side Social. To ensure our own practice is effective in supporting the learners we work with, we conduct running assessments to ensure progress is being made towards achieving individual and group goals.
